The ASAB Medal

If you have any questions or comments about the ASAB Medal, please contact the Secretary of ASAB Council.

The ASAB Medal is awarded annually for contributions to the science of animal behaviour - through teaching, writing, broadcasting, research, or for work on behalf of the association. There is no limit on age or career stage. The medal is awarded at either the Summer or Winter meeting.

The ASAB Council intends the medal not only to provide an appropriate way of recognising distinction in our field, but also to raise the profile of ASAB and the field of animal behaviour in the wider scientific community.

The ASAB medal was designed by Jonathan Kingdon and is struck in bronze.

Members of ASAB are invited to nominate one or more candidates for the medal. Female nominees are particularly encouraged as women tend to be under-represented at the nomination stage. Nominees should agree to being nominated.

Nomination forms can be downloaded here. Please use a separate form for each person you wish to nominate.

Nominations are open and will be considered for three consecutive years. The deadline for nominations for the 2025 award will be announced soon.
